Apple iPod Nano 1st Generation
The first generation iPod Nano is simply put a work of art. A mere 0.27 inches in width you need to hold it in your hands to believe it. With the iPod Nano Apple returned to a flash hard drive instead of the standard hard drive which was used for its predecessor the Mini. As a result this made the small Nano much sturdier and less prone to physical damage. The Nano also introduced video playback to the Apple's line of small format mp3 player. The first generation iPod Nano which is now two generations old remains thinner than its successors.

Apple iPod Nano 2nd Generation
The revised second generation Apple iPod Mini greatly benefited from a battery life upgrade. While the original iPod Mini only lasted a mere 8 hours on a full charge, the second generation iPod Mini now boasts an extra 10 hours to bring the total to 18 continuous playback time. Aside from the a few cosmetic upgrades giving the 2nd gen iPod mini a very classy look, there are no significant differences between the two. The size and weight has remained the same, as did the screen. Despite the availability of the much slimmer and color screen nano, for the price the Apple iPod Mini remains a serious contender in its category.

The result is a much wider screen for media playback, not to mention a much crisper and more detailed LCD display. While the new iPod Nano is wider than the previous two iPod Nano models, it kept the same incredibly slim depth and only gained a few ounces in the process. The iPod Nano third generation is simply put incredible, put it in your pocket and you'll forget it is even there.
