Apple iPod Mini 1st Generation

Prior to the iPod Nano, the iPod Mini was the king of the small form factor mp3 players. With the traditional iPod click wheel, and easy to navigate menus it truly retained all the functionality of its bigger brother in a much smaller package. Despite the lack of a color screen, the first generation iPod Mini was a full featured MP3 player offering a long playback time and superior sound quality.

Apple iPod Mini 2nd Generation

The revised second generation Apple iPod Mini greatly benefited from a battery life upgrade. While the original iPod Mini only lasted a mere 8 hours on a full charge, the second generation iPod Mini now boasts an extra 10 hours to bring the total to 18 continuous playback time. Aside from the a few cosmetic upgrades giving the 2nd gen iPod mini a very classy look, there are no significant differences between the two. The size and weight has remained the same, as did the screen. Despite the availability of the much slimmer and color screen nano, for the price the Apple iPod Mini remains a serious contender in its category.
